SPF
SPF stands for Sender Policy Framework. SPF is a security mechanism which protects your domain from being used to send spam.
SPF is a DNS record that identifies specific mail servers that are allowed to send email on behalf of your domain. It is effectively an anti-spam approach to aid in authenticating senders, thereby discouraging spammers who disguise the origin of their emails (spoofing).
Do you need an SPF record?
SPF records are used to prevent spammers from spoofing your domain name. Recipient servers can use the SPF record you publish in DNS to determine whether an email they have received has come from an authorized server or not. Owing to the growth in spammers over the years, SPF has gone from being a ‘nice to have’ to a ‘must have’.
