Whaling

A highly-targeted phishing attack that targets senior executives. Cyber attackers send malicious emails masquerading a legitimate email. Whaling emails are more sophisticated than general phishing emails as they often target C-level executives. They usually contain personalized information about the targeted organization or individual, making the more believable.

They aim at stealing money or confidential information for CEO fraud, or at gaining access to these senior executives’ computers for criminal purposes.
